| Top HM ultra killed in Doda, encounter on | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 28- Police claimed to have killed a top commander of Hizbul-Mujahideen in a gunfight in Doda district of Jammu region on Tuesday. Police sources said that acting on tip-off regarding the presence of militants in Darda, Marmath forests area of Doda district, a police team cordoned the area and started combing operations. Sources said as the police party tried to advance, militants hiding in the forests opened fire on the search party which was retaliated. In the ensuing gun-fight a top commander of Hizbul-Mujahideen identified as Mohammad Yusuf alias Waseem was killed. However, two more militants who are present in the forest area have engaged the search party in gun-battle. Police also claimed to have recovered one AK-47 rifle, 2 magazines and 8 Sim cards from the possession of slain militant. Sources said that the gun fight continued for more than two hours. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, Parabhat Singh said that Mohammad Yusuf alias Waseem was an ‘A’ category militant and was active in the area for a long time. He said the encounter started at 1:45 afternoon after police received information regarding the movement of militants in the area. He said one militant has been killed while two others have been cornered by the troops of Army’s 12 Rashtriya Rifles and police. “We have killed an A category Hizb Militant identified as Mohammad Yusuf alias Waseem of Mangotra, Marmath. Two of his accomplices have been cordoned and will be killed soon,” Singh claimed. Meanwhile, in another attack carried out by suspected militants, an army man belonging to 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) was injured in South Kashmir’s Tral area on Monday evening. The sources said that suspected militants attacked a patrolling party of Army’s 42 (RR) near Chattrugam area of South Kashmir’s Tral on Monday evening. They said militants hiding in the forest area opened fire on the patrolling party of 42 RR which was retaliated. In the ensuing gun-battle that continued for some time, a trooper was injured. Soon after the incident troops launched a combing operation in the area to flush out the militants. The operation was still going on when the last reports came in .
