SBSSU becomes first University in Punjab to implement mandatory "Entrepreneurship Mindset" curriculum

GURDASPUR, July 10: Sardar Beant Singh State University (SBSSU), Gurdaspur, has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first university in Punjab to adopt and implement the mandatory "Entrepreneurship Mindset" curriculum.
This initiative is part of the Statewide Rollout launched by the Department of Technical Education and Training, Punjab, under the able leadership of the Hon'ble Minister of Technical Education, Sh. Harjot Singh Bains.
The implementation of this curriculum was formally approved during the meeting of the Academic Council on recommendation of the Board of Studies (BoS) meetings held across all departments. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. S.K. Mishra, SBSSU continues to realign its academic ecosystem with the goals set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The SBSSU notified vide no. SBSSU/Acad/259 dated 09/07/2025, to implement Entrepreneurship Mindset course in all Under Graduate program. This entrepreneurship curriculum will boost the Punjab's resilience and youth empowerment. This will be a technology and AI enabled 2 credit course in every semester which help the students to study the course online also. The entrepreneurship mindset curriculum is a movement to transform Punjab's youth into entrepreneurs. The youth may become micro and small scale entrepreneurs, social innovators, Rural startups, Digitally empowered youth leaders and community change makers.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Academic Council appreciated the forward-looking decision of the Punjab Government to introduce the "Entrepreneurship Mindset" course in all undergraduate programs.
As part of its reformative academic agenda, the Academic Council of the university has approved to introduced Discipline-Specific Minor Degrees in all Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs, thereby broadening career opportunities and encouraging interdisciplinary learning among students. SBSSU Academic Council has also recommended to upgraded its academic infrastructure with Smart Classrooms, ensuring a modern, technology-enabled, and student-centric learning environment. He emphasized the importance of continued academic reforms and urged faculty and departments to focus on the following areas:
Implementation of the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS)
Integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)
Adoption of the National Credit Framework
Promotion of Multidisciplinary and Skill-Based Education
Introduction of Certificate Programs and Minor Degrees across all disciplines
The Chairman also commended the Academic Council for initiating key components of NEP 2020. He further stressed the importance of implementing the remaining components of the policy in a time-bound manner.
