‘Police hand in glove with land mafia’
Jammu, Apr 29- The Kashmir Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS) on Wednesday appealed the Governor of the state to initiate proceedings to cancel all the sale deeds that have been registered against the sale of property belonging to various mandirs and trusts.
KPSS in a statement said that a memorandum to this effect has been forwarded to the state Governor besides, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Chief Minister of the state asking them to take measures to check the ‘illegal’ sale of property belonging to the various mandirs and trusts owned by Kashmiri pundits.
“The immovable property belonging to the Dharam Dass Koul Mandir situated at Sathu Barbar Shah, Srinagar is being sold by non state subjects pretending to be the saviors of Vedic cult of Kashmiri Pandits. The property running into thousands of crores of rupees is being sold for personal benefit by these people and no one has taken any cognizance,” the memorandum reads.
“We would have challenged these entire sale and lease deeds but the number is so high that our efforts from last two decades have not brought the expected results. These vested interests have links in every office of the State Government, the Central Government, that it has become very difficult for us without any legal favour. The police have joined hands with this mandir land grabber’s mafia,” alleged KPSS.
The KPSS alleged that recently a non state subject executed a lease deed on March 28 last against a building just adjacent to Dharam Dass Koul Mandir, Sathu barbar shah, costing Rs.10 crores.
The KPSS has appealed the Governor to consider the memorandum as FIR and direct the police to take cognizance and investigate the matter in accordance with law, recommend to the Inspector General of Registration under Jammu and Kashmir Registration Act and the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to seize all these documents registered before Sub-Registrars and Registrars concerning the properties, direct the Revenue Authorities to collect all such deeds and details about the lands, houses and shops, commercial buildings of these temples and stop any construction and direct the Srinagar Municipal Corporation not to issue sanctions and permission for the constructions of shops, buildings, houses, restaurants, hotels or other industries on the temples lands.
