Early Times Report

Lucknow, July 10: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is undergoing a remarkable transformation from battling heatwaves to embracing a thriving green wave. The state is setting new milestones in environmental protection and green cover expansion, reflecting CM Yogi’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development.
As part of this green revolution, the mega plantation campaign, under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0,” achieved a record-breaking feat in 2025 by planting over 37.21 crore saplings in a single year. Over the past eight years, the state has planted more than 240 crore saplings, making it one of the largest plantation drives in the country. According to the Forest Department, the overall survival rate of saplings planted between 2021-22 and 2024-25 stands at an impressive 86.67%. This reflects not only the scale of the campaign but also the seriousness with which post-plantation care and monitoring are being ensured. The annual survival rates have steadily improved 76.87% in 2021-22, 83.73% in 2022-23, 90.04% in 2023-24, and a remarkable 96.06% in 2024-25, indicating effective monitoring and community participation. CM Yogi Adityanath’s vision goes beyond just planting saplings. The ultimate goal is to restore ecological balance and create a lasting environmental impact by nurturing every plant. To ensure this, the Forest Department has implemented robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms at every level.
The impact of this movement is visible on the ground. Since 2017, the state has recorded an unprecedented increase of about 5 lakh acres in green cover.
