Delhi High Court quashes Bogus Hockey J&K Elections held on 31st May 2025 | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi, July 12: In a significant development for the sports community, the Hon’ble Delhi High Court has quashed the illegal elections of Hockey J&K conducted on May 31, 2025. These elections were found to be in violation of due process and the rule of law. As a result, the Hon’ble Court not only declared the said elections null and void but also issued strict directions prohibiting the so-called elected representatives from participating in any Executive Board or General Body meetings of Hockey J&K and Hockey India. This ruling marks a major victory for hockey players, athletes, and sports enthusiasts across the region. Over the past several months, concerns had been raised over the exclusion of deserving players from the national team due to interference and mismanagement in the selection process since November 2024. Moreover, the court has also upheld the present Hockey J&K body comprising of Mr Rajinder Kaul -President , Supinder Bakshi -Secy General and Ishan Sharma as treasurer. The Sports activists and Hockey players believe the order would restore confidence in sporting institutions, and ensure that genuine talent receives its due recognition. This judgment sets an important precedent for governance in Indian sports and serves as a stern warning against the manipulation of institutional processes for vested interests.
