3 drug peddlers arrested, 10.55 gram heroin like substance recovered

Kathua, July 12: In its drive against drug smugglers and their propagators, District Police Kathua under the direction and overall supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS has arrested 03 drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua and P/S Billawar and recovered about 10.55 Grams
Heroin (Chitta) like substance( in two separate incidents) from their possession.
In the first instance, A Police team of PS Kathua led by PSI Subham Mahajan IC PP Hatli under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak JKPS and DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh, SHO PS Kathua Sh. Sandeep Chib while performing patrolling/vehicle checking , noticed one suspect who was coming from Berrian Pattan Link road towards National Highway 44 for selling heroin like narcotics.During frisking approximately 5.60 Grams of Heroin (Chitta) like substance was recovered from his possession who have been identified as:-Vineet Kumar S/o Sohan Lal R/o Ward No. 08 Kathua.Thereafter the accused person have been arrested alongwith contraband item was also seized.In this regard, a case FIR No. 333/2025 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act Act has been registered at PS Kathua and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, A Police Party of P/s Billawar led by SHO Billawar Insp Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SDPO Billawar Sh Neeraj Padyar established a special naka at Dharamkot Near passenger shed on Malti Road . Two unknown persons were roaming in suspicious circumstances, on seeing police party the unknown persons tried to flee away from the spot but alert Police party did hectic efforts and apprehened them, While questioning they disclosed their name as 1. Mohd.Ramzan S/O Abdul Kuyoom R/O Malti Tehsil Billawar Distt. Kathua (2) Surjeet Singh S/O Bishan Dass R/O Banjal Bhatwal Tehsil Lohai Malhar Distt.Kathua.During their personal search 4.95 grams of Heroine (chitta) like substance and two mobile phones have been recovered from their possession.In this regard a case FIR No.109/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Billawar further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drug supply in the area.
Thus overall a total of 10.55 Grams of Heroine (Chitta) like Narcotics recovered in both the incidents and three drug peddlers arrested.
District Police Kathua is working hard and taking every necessary step to aware general public especially youth during its regular Anti-Drug awareness Campaigns. Kathua Police also appeals to its citizens to come forward, join hands with police in its fight to eradicate drug menace from society.
