One held with Banned Nylon Gattu by Pacca Danga Police

Jammu, July 14: Today In a continued and intensified crackdown against the illegal possession and use of banned nylon thread (commonly known as Gattu), Police Station Pacca Danga today apprehended another individual during a routine Naka checking at Manda Naka, recovering 06 rolls of the hazardous material.
The accused has been identified as Tarun Sharma S/O Sanjay Sharma R/O Khajuria Mohalla, Patyaria, District Kathua. During the Naka checking, the police team stopped the suspect riding a Scooty bearing registration number JK02CH 4954. Upon search of the vehicle’s dickey, 06 rolls of banned nylon Gattu thread were recovered.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 75/2025 U/S 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga, and further investigation is in progress.
This is the second such arrest within just two days by Pacca Danga Police, reflecting their committed efforts to implement the District Magistrate’s ban on nylon thread and safeguard the public from its harmful consequences.
It is pertinent to mention that the use, possession, and sale of nylon Gattu thread is strictly prohibited under District Magistrate Jammu’s Order No. DMJ/LO/25-26/801-06 dated 25-06-2025, as it poses severe threats to birds, humans, animals, and the environment.
Pacca Danga Police appeals to the citizens to refrain from using banned threads and to report any violations immediately. Public cooperation remains key in ensuring community safety.
