GDC Ghagwal in collaboration with others inaugurates ten days summer internship programme

JAMMU, July 14: Govt. Degree College Ghagwal in collaboration with the Mission Shakti, Social welfare Department and REACHA Foundation inaugurated ten days summer internship programme in the college. The aim of the internship is to foster innovation and self reliance in students through skill development programmes.
In the inaugural address, Dr. Sujata Slathia, Principal of the college stressed on the importance of internship programmes which provide valuable hands-on experience, enhance professional skills, and boost career prospects. She further added that internship allows individuals to explore different career paths, build professional networks, and gain a competitive edge in the job market.
Ruchi Thakur, District Mission coordinator, SANKALP:HEW in her address discussed about various schemes offered by Mission Shakti under SANKALP for empowerment of the women. She also stated that in addition to skill development programmes SANKALP also provides schemes like Medical Aid, Legal aid and advice, temporary shelter, financial assistance and psycho- social counselling to the women.
Ravi Kumar, Project supervisor, REACHA foundation added that REACHA foundation provides training to the youth in various skills and entrepreneurial skill that helps in enhancing their livelihood - through jobs, and/or by setting up their entrepreneurship ventures. Mamta, Resource person of the ten days workshop, gave the overview of Resin art which is a popular medium for creating unique and visually striking pieces, from jewelry and home decor to larger artworks and will be covered in this ten days internship. The programme was attended by Prof. Vijay Kumar (HOD Sociology), Mansi and Ritika (Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti), Lucky Sharma (Field supervisor REACHA foundation), Amrita sharma, Hardev Bhagat, Nisha Rani, Avtar Singh, Sachin Bhagat along with students of the college. The programme ended with the Formal vote of thanks by Dr. Bavita Bhagat, HOD Dogri. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Shivani Sharma.
