Food Safety, DFCO, Jammu launches drive against the Violators

JAMMU, July 14: Focussing on the Food Safety of the pilgrims and Consumers Safety on the Eve of Holy Amarnath yatra 2025,Smt .Smeta Sethi Commissioner FDA UT j&k issued the strict directions to make proper implementation of FSSA particularly during the ongoing Holy Amarnath Yatra 2025 from take off point *Lakhanpur kathua to Banihal Jawahar tunnel* and to make extensive coverage throughout jammu Division jammu the teams of Designated Officers and Food Safety Officers of Drugs and Food Control Orgn. Jammu in compliance to the same instructions whereunder emphasizes were made to carry out various activities to enforce various Provisions laid down under the FSS Act 2006 ,teams of Food Safety Officers swung into action carried out the extensive campaigns , visited various markets throughout jammu Division during ongoing Holy Yatra conducted viable and random inspections in the suspected establishment and Langers along the road side National Highway,issued improvisation notices, thereto , during these inspections Erring Dhaba walas, restaurant operators and all erring Food Business Operators were imposed a fine of Rs.69000/= ,under different sections of the Act ,Strict warnings have been made to the defaulters about whom a complaints were on board especially of Food Bussiness Operators not to repeat the offences ,moreover, unhygienic ,uncovered,disgusting and rotten fruit with unfit perished vegetables and Foods weighing about two Quintals. were destroyed on the spot under FSSA Act ,instructions were given to the Food Bussiness Operators regarding not using of cooked oil 3-4 times to avoid the toxicity and health hazrads under the initiative RUCO of FSSAI thereto. ,taking the lead of drives the teams have made use of well equipped 05 MFTV which are deployed from Lakhanpur to Banihal 24x7 service and Daily routine tests have been done and are in process of testing different categories of Food items ,the team under the Act carried out thorough inspections of the Langers establishments for the pilgrims of Amarnath yatra and advised the operators to make proper use of safe & portable water and take preventive measures particularly sanitation and Hygiene also instructed the pilgrims to take notice of the violations all along the route ,besides the Food Bussiness Operators were warned to desist from violations and if offences are found repeated the defaulters will be put under punitive action under the Act.
