BIS JKBO Organizes "Manak Conclave" for Industries and Stakeholders Engagement in Kathua

KATHUA, July 15: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), successfully organized a Manak Conclave for industries and stakeholders of the Kathua region at Akash Hotel & Banquet, Kathua.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading industry representatives and stakeholders of Kathua. It served as an interactive platform to deliberate on BIS activities, Quality Control Orders (QCOs), and their practical implementation, aimed at enhancing product quality and ensuring consumer safety.
The conclave was inaugurated by Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Hon'ble MLA Kathua, who welcomed participants and emphasized BIS's commitment to engaging stakeholders in the standardization process. He highlighted how such programs help industries address their queries on ISI marking and understand the benefits of QCOs. Mohd. Maushtaq Chaudhari, GM, DIC Kathua, lauded BIS's efforts in supporting industries through streamlined licensing procedures. He stressed the need for more industry-specific awareness programs and assured DIC's support in collaborating with BIS for future initiatives. Tilak Raj, Director & Head, BIS-JKBO, briefed participants about various QCOs, the procedure for grant of licences, and encouraged manufacturers to share their challenges regarding standards implementation.
Hitesh Yadav, Deputy Director, BIS-JKBO, demonstrated the BIS Care App, showcasing its role in enabling consumers to verify authenticity of ISI-marked and Hallmarked products. He also explained the Know Your Standards feature for identifying relevant Indian Standards for various products. Additionally, Mr. Yadav detailed BIS's new Scheme X and procedures under OTR regulations, while providing a brief on BIS's journey since its inception in 1947.
The session concluded with an engaging interactive discussion, where industry stakeholders shared their perspectives, raised queries, and provided constructive feedback for effective implementation of standards and QCOs.
