GDC Marh marks successful culmination of Internship Programme

MARH, July 17: To foster the entrepreneurial and research skills amongst the students as a part of NEP 2020 guidelines, Government Degree College, Marh conducted 15 days summer internship for B.A/B.Sc./ and B.Com Semester Vth students. These students underwent the internship course at different institutes, which commenced on July 1st and concluded on 15th July, 2025. The internship was conducted under the overall guidance of Prof Ramneek Kaur, Principal of the college. Speaking on the occasion she expressed her satisfaction on the successful completion of the internship programme and appreciated the partner institutes and students for their zeal to learn new skills aligned with NEP-2020. The internship programme was aimed to provide hands-on exposure, practical insights aligned with student academic curriculum so that students can contribute effectively to the society as a responsible citizens.
During the course of the internship, students were placed at Industrial Training Institute, ITI, Jammu (32 students), Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute Regional office Jammu, JKEDI (26 students) and Supertech (India) computer Education (26 students) where they engaged in real-time projects and gained valuable professional experience.
On the culmination of internship Programme at Govt. ITI Jammu, Er. Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Principal ITI Jammu, highlighted the importance of skill in day to day life. He emphasized upon the participants to undergo different skill programmes for effective contribution in Nation building. As per him in the contemporary world, a degree holder with skill is more effective and relevant as compared to a degree holder without Skill. In order to achieve the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047, every individual is supposed to be equipped with some skill. Dr. Vinod Kumar (Incharge Internships JKEDI, Jammu), Puneet Mahajan, Director Super-Tech Computers, Jammu and Reena Wazir, Course Coordinator of Super-Tech Computers also highlighted the importance of such skill courses and their relevance in day to day life at their respective centres on concluding day while interacting with the participants. It is pertinent to mention that the college also signed MOU with ITI Jammu to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and organise more such programs so as to bridge the gap between education and employ-ability.
On the concluding session of the internship program students presented their experiences, learning, and project outcomes. Faculty mentors appreciated the student dedication and highlighted the importance of such practical engagements in shaping future careers.
