Bovine smuggling bid foiled in Nowshera; 11 animals rescued | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17: In a major success against bovine smuggling, the police party of Police Station Nowshera today foiled a smuggling bid and rescued 11 bovine animals from a vehicle in the Siot area. As per official sources, the bovines were being illegally transported in a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK12B-1415, which was heading towards Kashmir via the Mughal Road. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot and is currently unidentified. Acting swiftly on specific input, the alert police team intercepted the vehicle and successfully rescued the animals. A case under FIR No. 92/2025 has been registered at Police Station Nowshera under relevant sections of law, including Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (PCA Act). Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the absconding driver. Police authorities have reiterated their commitment to curb illegal smuggling activities and urged the public to report any such suspicious movement in their areas. |
