Early Times Report JAMMU, July 17: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police, Bhim Sen Tuti today chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations across the Jammu Division. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Police, CRPF, BSF, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Managing Director JPDCL, Heads of different Departments and representatives from executing agencies. At the outset, the Divisional Commissioner highlighted the significance of celebrating the national festival with active public participation and administration at Division, Districts, Sub-divisions and Tehsils levels, while ensuring comprehensive security and logistical arrangements. The meeting focused on the Divisional level event to be held at M A Stadium, Jammu. Detailed discussions were held on key aspects including barricading, seating arrangements, parking, traffic regulation, illumination of offices and key locations, uninterrupted power and water supply, security deployment, sanitation, healthcare facilities, participation of contingents and cultural performances. The Sports Council and Public Works Department was directed to start the repair and renovation works inside the M A Stadium, while the Hospitality department was asked to install waterproof tents and an adequate number of chairs for seating. The MD JPDCL was asked to take measures for the illumination of identified buildings and rotaries around the City, besides ensuring uninterrupted power supply at the main venue. The Director Health Services was directed to ensure availability of ALS ambulances and medical staff. The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was directed to maintain cleanliness in and around the stadium. The SRTC will provide buses for ferrying participants and the public to the venue. To ensure smooth execution of arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner directed all departments to nominate nodal officers for coordination. He further asked for establishing a dedicated control room at the venue with representatives from concerned departments. The Deputy Commissioner Jammu was asked to oversee timely publication of invitation cards and constitute a selection committee to finalize the cultural activities to be presented on the Day. It was informed that this year's Parade will include contingents from BSF, CRPF, SSB, JKP, JKAP, IRP, SDRF, JKFPF, JKFES, NCC and school students along with pipe and brass bands of BSF, JKP and Schools. |
