7/19/2025 10:02:35 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 19: Senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu West, Shri Arvind Gupta, today called on Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner, Shri Devansh Yadav, to address the pressing issue of acute water scarcity affecting several wards of the Jammu West constituency. The meeting focused primarily on the deteriorating conditions of Public Health Engineering (PHE) services and the irregular drinking water supply, especially in wards 39, 33, 29, 13, and 12.
Arvind Gupta was accompanied by senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu North, Shri Sham Lal Sharma, along with concerned officials from the PHE Department and JMC. Together, they discussed possible solutions, including augmentation of supply sources, replacement of damaged pipelines, and efficient deployment of water tankers in the most affected localities.
Expressing deep concern over the hardships faced by residents, Shri Arvind Gupta asked the Commissioner to prioritize immediate remedial measures to restore and streamline the water supply. "Water is a basic necessity, and the people of these wards have been facing immense difficulties due to inconsistent and insufficient supply. It is the duty of the administration to ensure regular and adequate drinking water to every household," he asserted during the meeting.
The MLA highlighted several technical and infrastructural shortcomings within the PHE network and called for enhanced coordination between JMC and PHE officials to address the ground-level issues effectively. He also stressed the need for comprehensive inspections, timely repairs, and long-term planning to prevent recurrence of such crises in the future.
The JMC Commissioner assured the delegation of prompt action and directed officials to initiate steps on a war footing to mitigate the crisis.
Arvind Gupta reiterated the BJP's commitment to public welfare and affirmed that he would continue to raise the concerns of the people at every level to ensure swift redressal and sustained development.
