Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 20: Apni Party's Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today accused Congress Party for misleading people with their ongoing staging a protest in J&K, demanding for restoration of statehood.
"The Congress Party, and its ruling alliance partner, National Conference preferred silence for a long time even after returning to power in J&K," said S. Manjit Singh, addressing one day worker's convention here at the North Constituency in Mishri Wala, Jammu.
The convention was organised by senior leader of the party, Bodh Raj Bhagat. Hundreds of party leaders, and workers gathered at the convention to hold deliberation on the day to day activities, and made suggestions to improve the public outreach program in Jammu region's peripheral areas, including North Constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, the Former Minister said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being misled by the NC-Congress Party and the BJP on the other side with their divisive agenda, and politics to divert attention of the people.
"These parties have lost their credentials and hence, they have restored to a dishonest approach to seek statehood. The statehood restoration was first demanded by the Apni Party, and the Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari when all these political parties were silent over the issue soon after the abrogation of special status of J&K," he said.
He called upon the party leaders, and workers to intensify their public outreach program, and meet the people at their doorstep to resolve their issues.
He said that people in Jammu feel misled by the BJP even after the majority of the BJP won from Jammu region and got the leader of opposition in the Legislative Assembly of J&K.
"BJP has failed to become the voice of the people. They did nothing except create a wedge among the people," he said, condemning the negative politics of BJP.
He said that BJP had assured that the statehood would be restored but the matter is being delayed without citing any reason.
"The delay in granting statehood has affected the lives of the people, and snatched their livelihood with increase in unemployment among the educated youth," he added.
