NMC demands early appointment of the Chairman, other members of 8th pay commission

JAMMU, July 20: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president, Subash Shastri has urged upon the Prime Minister to immediately appoint Chairman and other members of 8th Pay Commission, constitution of which was approved by the Union Cabinet Six months ago and announcement in this regard should be made in the upcoming mansoon session of parliament starting from tomorrow,so that uncertainty among the employees and pensioners on this vital issue could come to an end "Since the due date for implementation of 8th Pay Commission is 1st January 2026, it is hoped that the Commission will complete its report within the given time frame, so that the benefits of 8th Pay Commission could reach the beneficiaries from January 2026," Shastri added. In a memorandum sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shastri said that notification for the appointment of Chairman and other member of the 8th Pay Commission is need of the hour. Referring to the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations implemented in 2016, Shastri highlighted the provision to merge 50 per cent DA into basic pay or pension once DA crosses 50 per cent. "With DA now at 55 per cent, we request the Central Government to merge 50 percent DA into basic pay or pension. ''he added. Immediately Restore Old Pension Scheme (OPS) as a confidence building measure because many States have done this. Release of 18 months' pending DA arrears, setting up of National Wage commission to evolve national Wage policy through out the country, declare Jammu & Srinagar cities as B-1 city, like UT Ladakh the amount should be increased to Rs.1000 per month in favour of JKUT pensioners w.e.f 1-4-2020, commutation period should be reduced to 12 years and pension should be increased @ 5,10 and 15 percent after completion of 65,70 and 75 years of age of pensioners were others demands highlighted in the memorandum.
