Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Jammu conducts plantation drive

Jammu, July 24: To coincide with the International Year of Cooperation 2025 and ongoing Vanmahotsva, the management and staff of the Citizens Cooperative Bank Jammu in collaboration with Urban Forestry Division Jammu and Municipal Corporation Jammu organized a major plantation drive in and around Balidaan Stambh Jammu aimed at enhancing the local environment and promoting sustainability. Many Police dignitaries including Dr. Koshal Sharma (IPS) SSP PCR Jammu and Joginder Singh SSP Jammu also took active part in the drive and applauded the efforts of the Bank to ensure “Clean Jammu Green Jammu”
On the occasion, Parveen Sharma Chairman of the Bank apprised that this initiative is a part of the institute’s commitment to environmental stewardship and this event is being organized to raise awareness about the afforestation and ecological balance. He further said that the bank had decided to commemorate the International year of Cooperation with this Plantation Drive in the City of temples to discharge its responsibility towards society and mother earth. He further informed that around 200 saplings of different plants which are native to the area are being planted by the members of the Board and the staff of the bank in the presence of distinguished guests from Jammu& Kashmir Police.
“We are thrilled to be taking part in such kind of initiative and every institute in Jammu must come forward to organize similar kinds of drives to ensure safe environment for our future generations to come”, said Koshal Sharma SSP PCR Jammu.
Joginder Singh SSP Jammu in his message said that the act of planting trees has far reaching benefits, ranging from providing oxygen to creating habitat for wild life. He further deliberated that it is sustainable and impactful way to address environmental challenges and promote a healthier planet for current and future generations.
DFO Urban Forestry Division Jammu Ashwani Kumar on the occasion imparted awareness about the plantation stating the importance of flora and fauna for maintaining a healthy environment and supporting life on earth. He further informed that a noble initiative has been launched by the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation wherein QR codes are being issued for adopting a plant by its owner under Clean Jammu Green Jammu drive due to which the planter of the plant can take care and nurture the plant life long.
Earlier Ravi Kant Managing Director of the Bank welcomed the distinguished guests along with all other members of public and environmentalists for the noble cause and thanked all for their cooperation during the event, especially Urban Forestry Division Jammu and Municipal Corporation Jammu.
All the Directors of the Bank also very enthusiastically participated in the plantation process and planted one tree each on the occasion. Those who were present during the event were Sumant Singh Jamwal, Varinder Singh Jamwal, Suresh Kumar Gupta, Sachin Gupta, Suneel Mahajan, Sonal Vaid, Charanjit Singh Raina & Ashwani Puri, S Surinder Singh and CA Joginder Singh.
