| Scribes pay tributes to Sodhi | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 1 : The journalists fraternity today paid tributes to photojournalist Ashok Sodhi, who sacrificed his life in an encounter while performing professional duty at Samba last year. Meanwhile a week-long cricket tournament in memory of Ashok Sodhi was also inaugurated here at Parade Ground by K Rajindera, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone. Paying tributes to Late Sodhi, Rajiendra remembered him as a man of principles and professional towards his duty. ‘’ Sodhi throughout his career, remained dedicated to his profession and even sacrificed self while performing duty,’’ Rajindera said adding that he had been an inspiration to the youngsters. BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria also paid tributes and termed Late Sodhi as a hardworking and expert in his field. Later Rajinedra announced Rs 11,000 and Rs 51,00 prize money for the winner and runners up teams on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department while Manu Srivatsa, President Press Club of Jammu announced awards for best bowler and the batsman. In all 16 clubs and teams are participating in a week-long cricket tournament being organised by the Print and Electronic Photojournalists Association of Jammu in memory of Late Ashok Sodhi, who died in an encounter at Kaili Mandi in Samba on May 11, 2008 in which five persons, including a local politician, his wife were also Killed.
