Ramban, July 27: Initially raised as Crown Representative Police on 27 July 1939, and rechristened as Central Reserve Police Force, during December 1949, CRPF is the largest Central Armed Police Force of the Union of India. With nearly 250 Battalions, CRPF is deployed across the length and breadth of the Country, in all conflict theatres, viz, North East, J&K, Punjab, LWE states, and engaged in Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency, Anti Naxal Operations, VVIP security, L&O, Anti-Riot, Election Duties, etc, wherever the Nation called for its services. 84 Bn CRPF is deployed in J&K since 2009, and currently all its Coys are deployed in Ramban J&K and securing the major lifeline of Kashmir valley NH 44, over a stretch of 47 Km. The Bn is ensuring smooth passage of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatri convoy, SF convoys and other vehicles in Ramban District of J&K On 27 Jul 2025, 84 Bn celebrated the 87th CRPF Raising Day. During the celebration, the Commandant, all Officers and personnel paid their homage to the Martyrs of CRPF, who made supreme sacrifices, in the service of the Nation. Sh N Ranbir Singh Commandant addressed the Unit personnel and reiterated the glorious history and distinguished saga of valour of CRPF and appealed all the personnel to rise to the occasion, whenever and wherever necessary, in the line of duty. To contribute to the cause of Cleaner and Greener Planet, a plantation drive was conducted in which nearly 500 saplings were planted. The Day concluded with sports competition, cultural evening and Bada Khana, in which all Officers and personnel participated!
