Nami Dogri Sanstha presents Soulful Musical Programme

Jammu, July 27: Nami Dogri Sanstha (Regd.), a prominent literary and cultural organisation devoted to the preservation and promotion of Dogri language and heritage, organised a soul-stirring Musical Programme at KL Sehgal Hall, Jammu, celebrating the lyrical brilliance of noted Dogri poet Shri Gopal Krishan ‘Komal’.
The event showcased a vibrant confluence of music and poetry, where Komal’s evocative Dogri lyrics were brought to life by an ensemble of talented vocalists and musicians. The programme attracted a large audience of literature and music enthusiasts, including dignitaries, poets, writers, artists, and academicians from the region.
The evening began with a formal welcome by the Shri Yash Paul ‘Yash’, General Secretary NDS, who spoke about the organisation’s ongoing commitment to nurturing Dogri art forms and paying tribute to local literary icons. The musical compositions, based on Komal’s poignant and culturally rich lyrics, reflected themes of love, longing, nature, and Dogra pride.
Renowned singers included S. Parvinder Singh ‘Apple’, Prof Chanakya Sharma, Sh. Suraj Singh, Shyam Manyal and Ms. Supriya Sharma. They captivated the audience with melodious renditions, each performance deepening the appreciation of Komal’s lyrical craftsmanship. The heartfelt melodies echoed through the hall, leaving a lasting impression on the listeners and reaffirming the beauty and relevance of Dogri language in contemporary times.
The programme was presided over by Shri Om Prakash ‘Vidyarthi’, IFoS, Former PCCF, who advocated the importance of staying connected to one’s roots and follow the true calling as career. The Chief Guest Shri Darshan ‘Darshi’ (Shri DK Vaid, IAS), Former Director School Education emphasised the role of language in the intellectual growth of youth. Guest of honour Prof. Parveen Sabharwal, Former Principal, GDC, Thanna Mandi, hailed NDS for doing wonderful service towards promotion of Dogri language, local music and culture. Special invitee Shri Ravinder Koul, senior journalist stressed upon spreading the awareness of events of NDS among the massed to increase the participation by Dogri lovers. Shri Gopal Krishan ‘Komal’ shared his literary journey and also sung one of his favourite compositions. Shri Narinder Singh Chib read the paper on his life highlighting prominent works. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Wing Commander Nirmal ‘Nimbal’, Secretary NDS and a call for greater participation in cultural events that celebrate the linguistic and artistic wealth of the Dogra community.
