Poonch, July 27: On the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025, Poonch Brigade, under the aegis of Operation Sadbhawna, organised a series of commemorative events in Ajote Village, Poonch, to honour the supreme sacrifice of local hero Hav Abdul Majid, KC (Posthumous), and the valiant spirit of the people of the region.
General Officer Commanding, 25 Infantry Division alongwith Brigadier Mudit Mahajan,Commander 93 Infantry Brigade , inaugurated a beautiful park near a serene location developed near Ajote Mandir. The park stands as a tribute to the brave people of Poonch and serves as a symbol of unity, remembrance, and community engagement.
A memorial stone dedicated to Hav Abdul Majid, KC (Posthumous), a native of Ajote village and a gallant soldier who laid down his life in service of the nation, was also unveiled on the occasion. The memorial aims to immortalise his courage and inspire future generations.
Adding cultural and community value, the “Nishaan-e-Poonch” souvenir shop was also inaugurated. The initiative is aimed at promoting local handicrafts and heritage while enhancing the civil-military connect in the region.
To involve the youth and foster patriotism, a drawing competition was organised for students from nearby schools. The children enthusiastically expressed their emotions through art themed on bravery, national pride, and peace. |
