Early Times Report
NEW DELHI/LUCKNOW, July 27: In the 124th episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the rich historical and cultural legacy of Uttar Pradesh, with a special mention of Kalinjar Fort in Banda district. He described it as more than just a structure of brick and stone-calling it a living embodiment of India's culture, values, and self-respect.
The Prime Minister remarked that the essence of Indian culture and pride is reflected in the majestic forts of Uttar Pradesh. Citing Kalinjar Fort as a powerful example, he recalled its historic resistance against repeated invasions by Mahmud Ghaznavi. He also highlighted other significant forts of the Bundelkhand region-Gwalior, Jhansi, Datia, Ajaygarh, Garhkundar, and Chanderi-calling them treasured cultural heritage sites. He urged citizens to visit these places and take pride in India's glorious past.
In addition to highlighting heritage, the Prime Minister also commended the public's unwavering commitment to cleanliness in Uttar Pradesh. Referring to the 'Gomti Nadi Swachhata Team' of Lucknow, he praised the group for cleaning the Gomti River every Sunday for the past ten years-without fail and fatigue-calling their dedication truly inspiring. The Prime Minister's appreciation coincides with major initiatives being undertaken by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under his leadership, the state's Tourism Department is actively working to restore historic forts-particularly Kalinjar-and develop them as major tourist destinations. Simultaneously, a large-scale river rejuvenation campaign is underway across the state. Small rivers in various districts are being revived, with extensive tree plantations along their banks-a significant step toward environmental conservation. The Prime Minister's address not only brought national attention to Uttar Pradesh's cultural and historical wealth, but also acknowledged and encouraged the developmental and conservation efforts led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
