Early Times Report
SAMBA, July 27: In an attempt to aware two-wheeler riders in Vijaypur , Motor Vehicles Department Samba on Saturday distributed free helmets to the people riding without one.
An awareness program was organized in Vijaypur on Saturday under the supervision of ARTO Samba Ramesh Kumar Samotra. DC Samba Rajesh Sharma was the chief guest on this occasion. Traffic Department and Samba District Administration jointly organized a free helmet distribution program. They stopped two-wheeler riders and gave helmets to them.
The main objective of the program was to increase awareness among two-wheeler drivers about wearing helmets and most of the deaths in road accidents in India are due to not wearing helmets. Keeping this problem in mind, the officials explained to the people in detail about the importance of wearing helmets. On this occasion, dignitaries also participated in the program. During the program, drivers driving two-wheelers without helmets on the road were stopped on the spot and taught traffic rules and helmets were provided to them by the department and they were advised not to use mobile phones while driving and not to drive under the influence of alcohol.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Samba Rajesh Sharma Said that there should be awareness among people about the helmet and its importance. We want to send a strong message to the two wheeler riders that helmet is very important to save their own life.
The two-wheelers riders, who lauded the initiative, also got surprised at first as the police were giving them free helmet instead of slapping a fine.
He also said that those who violate the rules will not be spared at any cost and strict action will be taken against them under the law.
ARTO Samba Ramesh Kumar said that the department organizes awareness programs from time to time and makes people aware about traffic rules but now the department has directly warned the violators to follow the rules otherwise strict action will be taken against them and those who violate the rules will not be spared at any cost. He also said that while driving two-wheelers, use helmets properly and do not drive without a license and if any minor is caught driving a vehicle, strict action will be taken by the department against his family members under the law.
