| Residents shocked as debauchery picks up | | | SANDEEP BHAT Jammu: 1st May: Unearthing of second brothel in a time period of merely twenty days in a posh colony of Jammu, Trikuta Nagar indicates that every thing is not going in right direction here. It is irony that some women has opted to stand shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts in illegal and indecent deeds only instead of what a pious women was supposed for. The billion dollar question is that who is responsible. Unearthing brothel centers every now and then are not a big deal but the connections of drug mafia, terrorism and corruption is really going to hit the interest of society in a broader prospect as in recent past a woman was reportedly killed in an encounter at Doda who was over ground workers of militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. Talking to Early Times Ram Sahai president chamber of commerce and industries Jammu said that its really unfortunate and shocking that the incidents like this one is happening in the city of temples. He further added that he along with other citizens of the city have started talking to authorities who are at the helm of affairs and at their own level also will enquire about the whole incident. The saga of exiting of brothel centers is not a new concept in Jammu and Kashmir as infamous Srinagar sex scandal and Jammu porno CD case are not worth to forget. Trikuta Nagar being widely known as the posh colony meant for dignity conscious people and the unearthing brothels now and then pushed the prestige of colony to wall, resulting in sleepless nights for lot of inhabitants. Dr. Jitendra Singh, famous diabitologist said that there are so many factors involved include the total transformation of social values and some people want to earn quick money by adopting illegal methods. Earlier Jammu was a small town and from the last two decades it has transformed into a cosmopolitan city. Many people from outside the state are now putting up in Jammu may be another factor and in this case those involved are from Ludhiana city. Savita Bakshi, additional secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages said that such people who are involved want quick money by unfair means and more important the morality part and Gandhi’s concept is diminishing day by day. This incident has brought bad name to the city of temples, the culprits should be put behind the bars and be punished severly. When this reported tried his best to contact SSP Jammu for his views on the incident but the later’s phone was too busy or it was not reachable. As per reports, number of HIV positive infected people are increasing and on the other hand, reports of illegal trade (brothel centers) also shows upward trend. It is ironical that minors are also used as a shield by the brothel runners as one minor girl of ten years was also present at the time of raid inside the brothel centre on Friday when police busted the racket after repeated complaints by the neighbors. Law makers, enforcing agencies and social organizations which seems to be in deep sleep as the social values are reaching to its lowest ebb in a place which is known as the City of Temples. It is ripe time for all concerned to awake and perform their duties in a planned manner so that wanton disaster could be stopped to demolish the social structure of the dignified society of Jammu. Women in general and those associated with Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have prime responsibility to come forward and contribute in eradicating the growing menace in the interest of mankind. “On hearing the news, send shivers to me as in a month or so two cases of sex racket busting was reported in the area where I live”, said a habitant Sumit Sharma and added that people are always ready to cooperate with administration for taking adequate steps to end the menace of brothels in Jammu.
