| Journey of Kavinder Gupta from RSS worker and corporator to the gubernatorial post of Lieutenant Governor is inspiring and worth appreciating. Gupta rose from a very humble beginning to the highest constitutional post of LG of Union territory Ladakh. He was rewarded for his steadfastness and hard work as a Sangh activist and BJP’s gross root level worker. His journey is meteoric rise from the RSS activist and BJP’s politician. It is no mean thing but extra ordinary development that he was chosen for the constitutional post and rewarded by the BJP and anointed as the LG of Ladakh UT and he is the third LG of this union territory. His elevation to the top constitutional post of the UT shows that there is inter and intra party democracy in BJP and the fact that gross root workers are rewarded testifies that in BJP gross level workers are given the top most assignments and it is the beauty of the saffron party. It is not for nothing that Kavindra Gupta was appointed LG and it demonstrates that hard work is appreciated and rewarded in the BJP the incarnation of Bharatiya Jan Sangh. Jammuites should feel proud that the son of the soil has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor and it shows how much is the BJP/NDA government concerned on Jammu .No doubt Kavindar Gupta was a small worker of the sister organisation of the BJP which RSS is called and from RSS Prachark to the gubernatorial post is by any stretch of imagination not a small development and the journey of Kavinder Gupta from a corporator to the top post of LG is epoch making and the BJP cadres of Jammu should appreciate the fact that in the saffron party even a small man can rise to the top post by dint of his hard work, determination and dedication to the party and welfare of the people. Gupta rose so high from a small beginning as RSS Prachark. His journey is one of envious as he traversed a long social and political journey from the RSS activist to corporator, MLA of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Cabinet minister, Deputy chief minister and then to the top constitutional post of LG.
He was the firebrand gross root level worker of the RSS ,BJP and a spokesperson of the saffron party always articulating the nationalistic view point of the party which he belongs and he always worked to strengthened the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta got saddled in the corridor of the top constitutional post of the union territory and the Ladakhi’s hope that the new LG will prove his mettle and safeguard the constitution and help to fulfil the aspirations of Ladakhi people and end the tensions there and sooth the feelings of the people there and also ensure to implement the slogan of Sabka Sath ,Sabka Vikas of Prime minister Narendra Modi .Gupta is a prominent BJP leader of Jammu and Kashmir and he served as the speaker of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and also served as the deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta is a seasoned and senior leaders of the BJP and he believes in honest and clean politics.Hailing from Jammu city’s Janipur area ,he served as the Mayor of Jammu municipal corporation for three consecutive terms from 2005 to 2010.Gupta who is also the national executive member of BJP replaced incumbent Brigadier B.D.Mishra retired ,as the Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh. J and K BJP welcomed the appointment of the senior leader of BJP-Kavinder Gupta as the LG of Ladakh and it celebrated his appointment to the gubernatorial post. The anointment of the senior BJP leader and veteran statesman of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta as the third Lieutenant Governor of UT of Ladakh is a rare honour to him and to Jammu to which he belongs. The appointment of Kavinder Gupta as the LG of Ladakh union territory marks a extra ordinary chapter in the distinguished carrier of Kavinder Gupta which spans to five decades of his life. He, is a seasoned, mature, experienced political leader and he has a fund of knowledge, acumen, administrative experience and skill and all these attributes will prove beneficial in his role as the LG of Ladakh. Gupta is a gross root BJP leader and has connect with the people living far and wide in Jammu province of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta was born on December 2,1959 and he joined RSS at the early age of 13 years and his grooming in the nationalistic and cultural spheres has led him to become Mayor of JMC,MLA several times, minister, speaker ,deputy chief minister and finally as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh .His distinguished political and public life spanning five decades gave him the fund of experience, knowledge and skill which will keep him in good stead as the LG of Ladakh. He was also imprisoned for 13 months during emergency for his activism and trust in democracy. Gupta also held important positions in the sister organisations of the saffron party.

He served as the secretary of Punjab unit of the VHP during 1978-1979 and he remained as the president of BJYM in Jammu and Kashmir during 1993 to 1998.He was the deputy chief minister in BJP-PDP coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti. Gupta learnt the art and practice of discipline while serving the public in RSS and his devotion and dedication to national cause and public life is well known. Gupta’s elevation as the LG of Ladakh is seen as his reward for party discipline, devotion of his life for public good and his unwavering commitment to national integrity and nationalism. Gupta’s position as the LG of Ladakh is more important given the fact that it has no legislative Assembly and it is ruled directly by centre through its sole representative the Lieutenant Governor. Therefore, the authority and position of Gupta as the LG of the UT of Ladakh is envious. It is hoped that as the LG of Ladakh ,Gupta will prove his mettle and govern the UT and work for the growth and transformation of Ladakh during his tenure.
