early times report

Jammu, July 28: Army Public School Damana organized a vibrant three-day Scholastic Book Fair on the school premises from 25 July to 28 July 2025, with the aim of fostering a lifelong love for reading among its students and their parents. The event, held in collaboration with Scholastic India, showcased an extensive array of books catering to diverse age groups and reading interests.
The inaugural ceremony was conducted with great enthusiasm and was graced by the Principal, Mrs. Pushpinder Kaur, who lit the ceremonial lamp and officially declared the fair open, in the benign presence of the Head Mistress, Mrs. Anurita Kaul and Mrs. Nirmal Shawney, the Librarian of the school. In her inspiring address, Principal emphasized the crucial role of reading in a child’s intellectual and emotional development, encouraging both students and parents to cultivate reading as a daily habit.
Day 1of the fair witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Balvatika I to Class II, along with their parents. The young, budding readers were visibly excited as they explored a vibrant collection of picture books, fairy tales, early readers, phonics-based stories and interactive board books—designed to spark imagination and build foundational reading skills. The colorful and inviting stalls set up by Scholastic India created a festive, bookstore-like atmosphere that drew attention from students, teachers, and parents alike.
Day 2 of the Book Fair was equally engaging, with students from Classes III to V and their parents actively participating in the literary celebration. With growing curiosity and reading habits, these young readers showed keen interest in genres like mystery, historical fiction, science, and inspirational stories. Parents joined their children in browsing through the thoughtfully curated collection, helping them select books that matched their interests and reading levels.
Day 3 of the Book Fair welcomed students from Classes VI to XII and their parents to the Multipurpose Hall. The students showed great interest in a diverse selection of books, including young adult fiction, science and technology, graphic novels, biographies, career guides, competitive exam materials, and thought-provoking non-fiction
The event concluded on a joyful and inspiring note, with students excited to begin their reading journeys with the books they had selected.
