Grand opening ceremony of 2nd Chenab Open J&K UT Taekwondo Championship held

Doda, July 28: The Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Chenab Open J&K UT Taekwondo Championship 2025 was held today with great zeal at the Indoor Sports Hall, Doda. The championship is being conducted from 27th to 29th July 2025, witnessing the participation of around 400 players from all districts of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Anil Kumar (Additional Deputy Commissioner, Doda) as the Chief Guest, who encouraged the athletes to showcase their talent and maintain the spirit of sportsmanship. Shri Tariq Qazi (District Social Welfare Officer, Doda) attended as the Guest of Honor, while *Mr. Rizwan Wani (Regional Manager, Iqra International School, Doda) and Dr. Farooq Runyal (Eye Specialist) were present as Special Guests and extended their best wishes to all the participants.
The championship is organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Doda under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), with valuable support from the GameOn Foundation, which provided volunteers and technical support throughout the event.
The event is being successfully led by Mr. Junaid Ali Khan (President, Taekwondo Association of District Doda) and Mr. Burhan Ud Din Khan (Secretary, Taekwondo Association of District Doda).
The Referee Panel, ensuring fair play, is headed by Mr. Vinod Grewal (Office Secretary, JKTA) and comprises national referees Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Ashaq Hussain, Mr. Sumit Kumar, Mr. Sidharth Sharma, Mr. Kashif Iqbal, Mr. Achutam Dev Singh, along with senior referees Mr. Raghav Mehra, Mr. Shivansh Rajput, Mr. Rajinder Singh, Mr. Suresh Singh Manhas, and Ms. Radha Sharma.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Burhan Ud Din Khan, extended his gratitude to Ms. Nuzhat Gul (Secretary, J&K Sports Council) for her continuous support in promoting and uplifting Taekwondo across the Union Territory.
The championship will continue till 29th July, concluding with exciting finals and medal ceremonies to honor the best talents of J&K.
