Reasi, July 31: Under its ongoing crusade “Operation: Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh,” Reasi Police has dealt yet another strong blow to the drug menace by booking and detaining a notorious drug peddler under the Public Safety Act (PIT-NDPS). The accused has been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The accused, Raj Singh S/o Late Thakur Singh R/o Panthal Road, Pujari Road, Pujari Mohalla Arli Hansali, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, was actively involved in drug trafficking and had multiple cases registered against him, including FIR No. 101/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act and FIR No. 103/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, along with DDR No. 19 dated 04.07.2025 at Police Station Katra. Despite repeated warnings, he continued his involvement in supplying drugs to the youth of Katra area. Given his persistent criminal conduct and its grave threat to public health and societal wellbeing, he was detained under PIT-NDPS Act through Detention Order No. 49 of 2025 dated 30.07.2025, issued by Sh, Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Divisional Commissioner Jammu. On directions of Sh. Paramvir Singh, JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, dossiers were prepared and executed by the team of Police Station Katra, leading to his arrest and shifted to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. SSP Reasi, while sharing the details, reaffirmed that District Police Reasi has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to combat drug abuse: awareness campaigns across the district and strict action including PIT-NDPS detentions. Reasi Police has also launched an Anti-Drug Helpline: 9070907017, urging public cooperation in the fight against narcotics, with assurance that the caller’s identity will remain confidential.
