| Udhampur businessman shot, then stabbed to death in full public view | | |

Udhampur May 2: A Fruit wholesaler has been shot dead in broad daylight in main bazaar area of Udhampur today. A business dispute is being suspected as reason behind murder, the sources said.
According to information, some unidentified persons shot at Parshotam Kumar alias Sanju Jandial son of Krishan Lal killing him on spot near Gita Bhawan in main bazaar area of Udhampur when he was purchasing some thing from a local shop. The accused fled the spot after the incident.
Police reached the spot after getting information from locals and shifted victim to nearby local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile police has recovered one pistol and sharp edge weapon from spot and has registered case in this regard. Police has also launched haunt to nab the person involved in the murder of youth. However sources said that accused was having business rivalry with victim and had already threatened him in this regard . Sources also added that youth had its own licensed weapon pistol but did not get chance to use it when accused attacked him today .
Panic gripped entire Chabutra area after four miscreants appeared on a cycle repairing shop and opened fire on a customer. Identified as Sanjay resident of Udhampur, the victim was also stabbed several times with a sharp edge weapon by the accused, who made an easy escape from the site of the crime.
Police sources said that Sanju Jandial along with his son was repairing a bicycle of his son at a cycle repair shop at Chabutra when four motorcycle born youth fired few shots leading to his critical injuries. Quoting eyewitnesses and the preliminary investigation conducted so far, police sources said that to ensure that the victim does not survive the accused brutally stabbed him with a sharp edge weapon (toka) in full public view before fleeing from the spot. The victim died on the spot in front of his son, they added.
They said that some eyewitnesses informed the police about the incident, which rushed to the spot and shifted the body to District Hospital Udhampur for legal formalities.
Sources said that a motorbike (without number plate), a revolver and a sharp edged weapon used in stabbing the deceased were also seized by the police.
Police said that it has started the investigation of the case but no breakthrough was made till late this evening. Police alerted all the nakas and launched a major hunt to nab the accused miscreants.
