RS PURA, Aug 2: As a part of series of events to celebrate 79th Independence Day, Literary Committee of Government Degree College, R.S. Pura organized an Essay Writing Competition on the topic "Role of Education in Promoting Peace and National Unity" under the worthy patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and supervision of Dr. Neena Gupta Rohmetra, Convener Literary Committee. More than students participated in this competition with full zeal and enthusiasm. Through essay writing, students reflected on the role of education promoting ideas of peace and shared their perspectives with clarity and passion. Beyond academic knowledge, it plays a crucial role in shaping values, attitudes, and behaviors that foster peace and unity among citizens. In a diverse country like India, where people come from different religions, cultures, and languages, education becomes a pivotal tool to promote national integration and peaceful coexistence. The Judges of the competition were Dr. Chanchal Angral, HOD Zoology, Prof. Priya Darshani, HOD Environmental Science and Dr. Neeru Sawhney, HOD Physics. The Judgement was done on the basis of content of the essay and effective use of vocabulary. The worthy Principal shared her thoughts with the students on how education empowers people to resolve conflicts through dialogue and understanding rather than violence. It encourages critical thinking, empathy, and cooperation-values essential for peaceful communities. The Educational institutions bring together students from various backgrounds, encouraging them to learn about each other's traditions and beliefs.
