Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: In a major breakthrough against organized vehicle theft, Miran Sahib Police Station Bishnah, Inspector Jai Paul Sharma and ASI Pintoo Kumar under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu busted a well-coordinated theft module operating across districts, leading to the arrest of four accused so far. The module was actively involved in stealing, dismantling, and selling vehicles as scrap, with more arrests expected in the coming days. FIR No. 94/2025 was registered on 15.07.2025 under Section 303(2) BNS at Police Station Miran Sahib. Acting swiftly on inputs and CCTV analysis, the police team zeroed in on a location in Meen Charka, Bari Brahmana, where the stolen vehicles were being dismantled. The mastermind, Mohammad Younis, son of Mohammad Sharif, a resident of Smailpur Kothri,had set up a tin-covered shed on his land for carrying out these illegal activities. He led a gang that includes: Mohammad Hassan alias Raju, R/o Ragura Majheen (absconding) Sukhwinder Kumar alias Billa, R/o Bansultan, Miran Sahib (absconding) Bikram Singh alias Bikki, R/o Simbal Camp (arrested) Mohammad Yaqoob, R/o Bari Khad, Bari Brahmana (arrested) Zakir Hussain, R/o Kralpora, Handwara (arrested) The gang had recently stolen a truck (JK02AE-7469) from Basti Govindpur, Simbal Morh. The vehicle was dismantled and loaded into a Tata Mobile bearing suspicious dual registration numbers-JK02E-8809 and JK02V-5762. Investigations are underway to verify the authenticity of the engine and chassis numbers. Two additional individuals--Mohit, a scrap dealer, and Sajad Hussain, brother of the main accused, who purchased scrap parts from the stolen truck have also been found involved and are currently absconding. Some parts from the stolen truck have been recovered, and further recovery operations are in progress. Jammu Police remains committed to cracking down on organized crime networks and bringing all culprits to justice. More arrests are expected soon. |
