Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 3: A fruit plant distribution program was successfully organized today at Ghrani village in the Suchetgarh area, witnessing enthusiastic participation from more than 80 farmers. The initiative was spearheaded by Puneet Mahajan on behalf of Green Earth Army, in collaboration with the Save Horticulture Mission led by Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head, Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Jammu. The event was further supported by Dr. Rakesh Kumar and Davinder Singh. Under the mission's objective of promoting sustainable horticulture and enhancing green cover, two fruit plants were distributed to each participant, including varieties such as mango, lemon, guava, kinnow, aonla, and bael. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Parshant Bakshi urged growers to take proper care of the distributed plants and emphasized their role in ensuring ecological balance and nutritional security. He also shared practical tips for successful planting in low-lying and waterlogged areas and highlighted the vision and long-term goals of the Save Horticulture Mission. Dr. Rakesh Kumar spoke about the nutritional and economic importance of fruit plants, encouraging farmers to adopt fruit cultivation as a sustainable practice. Expressing his gratitude, Puneet Mahajan thanked Prof. Bakshi and his team for their active support in organizing the event, adding that such initiatives are crucial for promoting environmental conservation and community welfare. A plant was also planted by team in the house of Ex Sarpanch, Gharani. The program concluded with a commitment from all participants to nurture the plants and contribute to the mission's goal of creating a greener, healthier environment. |
