GDC Vijaypur organizes Essay Writing Competition

VIJAYPUR, Aug 4: As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College Vijaypur organized an inter-college Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Role of Education in Promoting Peace and National Unity" on August 3, 2025 under Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme @2047. The event aimed to foster awareness among youth about the transformative power of education in building a harmonious and united nation.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, who expressed their views with clarity, depth, and a strong sense of patriotism. Through their essays, participants explored how education not only empowers individuals but also plays a crucial role in bridging social, cultural, and regional divides-ultimately laying the foundation for peace and unity in a diverse country like India.
Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal of GDC Vijaypur, inaugurated the event and emphasized the relevance of the theme in today's socio-political landscape. "Education is the most powerful tool we have to create an informed, inclusive, and peaceful society. Events like these encourage our students to think critically about their role in nation-building," she said.
A panel of esteemed faculty members evaluated the essays based on originality, clarity of thought, and adherence to the theme in which 1st position was secured by Kavya Thakyal of sem. III, 2nd by Pranav Kumar of sem.V and 3rd by Kartik Dogra of sem.I. Winners were awarded certificates of merit.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English). The faculty members commended the students for their thoughtful reflections and commendable writing skills. The college continues to engage students in such intellectually enriching activities, reaffirming its commitment to holistic education and responsible citizenship.
