GDC Khour organises anti-drug awareness drive | | | Early Times Report KHOUR, Aug 5: Government Degree College (GDC) Khour successfully organised an impactful Anti-Drug Awareness Drive under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the banner of IEC (Information, Education and Communication) under the esteemed patronage of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma. The event began with a welcome address by Lt. Shivani Sharma who highlighted the significance of youth involvement in eradicating drug abuse and setting the tone for the awareness programme. The awareness drive featured four distinguished speakers who spoke on various dimensions of drug abuse and prevention. Dr. Shallu Sharma, representative from the Health Department, sensitised students about the harmful effects of drug addiction on physical and mental health and discussed preventive strategies. Priya Rani (PSI) from the Police Department delivered a comprehensive talk covering the causes and legal consequences of drug abuse, the role of juvenile justice, types of substances commonly abused, counselling measures, and ways to prevent drug-related issues in society. Yashpaul Sharma, lecturer from GHSS, focused on the increasing vulnerability of youth to substance abuse and called for collective efforts by educational institutions and families. Omkar Sharma, lecturer from HSS Khour, motivated students to make healthy life choices and stay away from any form of addiction. The event was anchored by Bhavana Sharma and Arun Pratap Singh, who kept the programme engaging and well-coordinated throughout. Special attendees included Seema Devi, Sudesh Kumari, Nirmal Kumari, and Kanta Devi from the Social Welfare Department, whose presence strengthened the message of community-wide support in the fight against drugs. Reveena Rani was also present at the event. Following the expert lectures, an interactive session was held where students actively participated, asked questions, and engaged in meaningful discussions with the resource persons. In his concluding remarks, Principal Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma appreciated the efforts of the organisers, speakers, and participants. He stressed the importance of regular awareness initiatives to empower youth, prevent substance abuse, and build a healthier, stronger nation.
