| DC Poonch reviews execution of works under district plan | | | Early Times Report Poonch, May 03- While reviewing the execution of works on various projects taken up under the district plan period during the last fiscal at a meeting of the district officers, the Development Commissioner Mohammad Afzal said that against the total allocation of Rs. 38.06 crore earmarked for the district Rs. 37.58 crore were spent on various schemes up to March end, last year. Rupees 4.28 crore was expended on construction of Trade Facilitation Centre, Ranger in a record period of 24 days to facilitate cross LoC trade, he added. He said in power sector, 132 KVA grid station was commissioned at Draba, Surankote while work on grid station at Chandak was nearing completion. On completion it would connect 132 KVA transmission lines thereby improving power supply in Surankote and Mandi tehsils. 112 transformers were replaced while as 109 transformers were repaired for augmenting power supply in the district during the said period, he said Deliberating on the mid-day meal scheme, it was given out that 85,000 students up to 8th class were covered under this scheme. Addressing the meeting the DDC asked all the district and sectoral officers to conduct frequent tours to rural and far-flung areas under their jurisdiction for assessing the facilities available to the residents of those areas. He instructed the officers, holding charge of duty in Poonch and Rajouri districts, to collectively to send their tour programs in advance to his office indicating 15 days tour in each district.
