GDC Neeli Nallah organizes Plantation Drive | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: In continuation to the celebration of National Independence Day 2025, GDC Neeli Nallah in collaboration with the Social Forest Department, organized a Plantation Drive and formed “Y-Shaped student chain” within the college campus under the banner of Viksit Bharat @2047. The initiative of plantation drive aimed to promote ecological awareness and instill a sense of environmental responsibility among students and staff. The ‘Y’ formation beautifully represented Yuva Shakti signifying the strength, aspirations, and collective will of the students of the college. The event was graced under the esteemed guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the College. Faculty members, NSS volunteers and a large number of students enthusiastically participated in the drive, making it a resounding success. Officers and field staff from the Social Forest Department also graced the occasion and guided students on the significance of native tree species and their ecological benefits. Various saplings of indigenous trees were planted across the campus. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal emphasized that ‘Y’ symbolizes the power of youth in shaping the future of the nation. She also highlighted the importance of green cover in combating climate change and enhancing biodiversity. Further addressing the gathering, she stated, “Tree plantation is not just a symbolic gesture, but a commitment towards a healthier and greener future. Our college takes pride in contributing actively to environmental preservation. The event concluded with a rousing chant of slogans promoting youth empowerment, national development & unity and commitment by all attendees to continue nurturing the planted saplings for a greener environment. The convenor of the plantation drive was Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Assistant Professor Sociology. And the Y shaped student chain was formed under the convenorship of Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, NSS Programme Officer and Prof. Rekha Sharma, NCORD Convenor. This collaborative effort stands as a testimony to college’s unwavering dedication to environmental causes and its vision to nurture responsible citizens. |
