Bharat Vikas Parishad celebrates Foundation Day, Van Mahotsav

JAMMU, Aug 7: Bahu Branch Bharat Vikas Parishad Trikuta Nagar celebrated Foundation Day and Van Mahotsav in Shakti Park organised by Vijay Arora, President Bahu Branch.
Planting started with the slogan 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' by Surinder Mohan Seh Vibhag Sangh Chalak, Arun Sharma Regional Joint General Secretary BVP North, Gopal Gupta Prantiya Environment Convenor, Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma Regional Secretary Sewa, Rajesh Gupta Prantiya organising Secretary, Gurmeet Singh Prantiya Sewa Convenor and Rekha Mahajan Vice President BJP J&K.
Vijay Arora, President, highlighted the significance of both festivals and elaborated on their objectives-Sampark, Sahyog, Sanskar, Seva, and Samarpan. She also spoke about the vision and mission of Bharat Vikas Parishad, which was founded by Dr. Suraj Parkash in 1963 and has now expanded to over 1,600 branches across India.
Surinder Mohan stated that this non-political organization is committed to the upliftment of society with the aim of building a healthy and prosperous nation.
Arun Sharma emphasized that India's first Agriculture Minister, K.M Munshi, initiated this plantation drive, which is now celebrated as a festival every year during the monsoon season. He highlighted that Ayurveda is deeply rooted in the Vanaspati Jagat (plant kingdom), which not only provides us with fruits and vegetables but also with life-saving medicines. Referring to Sanatan Dharma, he said that trees are revered and worshipped, underscoring their spiritual and ecological importance. Citing the Ramayana, he recalled how Hanumanji brought the Sanjeevani Booti to save Lord Lakshman's life, illustrating how vital plants are for the survival and well-being of humanity.
Gopal Gupta stated that plants provide us with oxygen, which is essential for sustaining life and making the environment pollution-free. He added that plants play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and also protect the soil from erosion, contributing significantly to environmental stability.
Rekha Mahajan emphasized the importance of planting trees, stating that plants not only enhance the environment but also create a clean and green atmosphere that is soothing to the eyes. Trees and plants also attract birds and support biodiversity, enriching the ecosystem, she said adding that a clean and green environment is not just aesthetically pleasing but also essential for a sustainable and healthy future.
Some medicinal plants like Neem Moringa, Amla. Jamun, guava and some flower and shady trees planted in Shakti Park on the occasion.
Other branch members who joined hands in plantation were Ex Corporator Lucky Puri, Purshotam Gupta, Rohit Mahajan, Dr G B Kohli, B.D Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Divya Jain, Matre Shakti-Branch Secretary Swati Bakshi, Vijaya Gupta, Sapna, Vasundhra, Madhu Gupta, Kuki Kaul, Dr Sudha Kohli, Dr Usha Sharma, Rakesh Gupta and others.
Coordinator D.P. Arora emphasized that everyone should plant at least one tree on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or festivals, as a meaningful contribution to the environment.
