Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 8: In honor of National Javelin Day, the GDC Billawar organised a javelin throw competition among students of different semesters on 7th August 2025. The event was organized to celebrate Neeraj Chopra's victory at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, the event sought to encourage youth involvement in javelin throw and identify new talent. 20 boys and girls enthusiastically took part in the competition. In the boys' category, Deepak Gupta semester I achieved first place with a throw measuring 23.70 meters, followed by Sajid Hussain semester V at 20.60 meters and Varun Singh at 18.20 meters. In Girls category, Roopalli Devi semester II secured the first position with a throw of 15.10 meters, while Parul Sharma at 12.70 meters and Mansi Devi at 11.60 meters. The event took place under the guidance of Principal Dr. Alka Sharma and was honored by the presence of Sr. Faculty members Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma, Prof. Rajesh Sharma, Prof. Nisar Ahmed Wani, Prof. Naresh Sharma, Prof. Parveen Sharma, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Prof. Narinder Sharma, Dr. Amrik Singh and others. The overall event was organized by the sports Committee, IQAC and Physical Education Department of GDC Billawar. |
