Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Aug 8: Government Degree College Vijaypur today organized a plantation drive under the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (One Tree in the Name of Mother) as a continuation of its 79th Independence Day celebrations. The event, held on the college campus, saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, who planted number of saplings to promote environmental consciousness and honor the invaluable role of mothers. The initiative, part of a series of events planned by the college to commemorate India's 79th year of independence, aimed to blend the spirit of patriotism with a commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. Participants gathered at the college grounds, where they were addressed by Principal, Dr. Ashu Vashisht, who highlighted the significance of the campaign. The college's Eco Club headed by Dr. Arti Sharma, played a vital part, providing information on the different species of trees being planted, which included medicinal, fruit, and shade-providing varieties. The event concluded with a pledge to continue such initiatives and to protect the newly planted saplings. The college community expressed its gratitude for the successful turnout and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a sense of social and environmental responsibility among the youth.
