| CBI busts another scam | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 4: Central Bureau of Investigation, Anticorruption Bureau Jammu Wing has unearthed yet one more scam to cheat the National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture and State Bank of India, Branch Vijaypur and booked the then Assistant Director National Horticulture Board Jammu JB Singh and one Sham Singh resident of Bhadoi District Samba u/s 120-B, 420, 468, 471 RPC and section 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act 2006 and some unknown officers/ officials of SBI Vijaypur Branch and started through probe in the scam.
According to the report one Sham Singh of Bhadoi District Samba entered into criminal conspiracy with JB Singh the then Assistant Director National Horticulture Board Ministry of Agriculture and unknown officers of State Bank of India Vijaypur Branch with an object to cheat the SBI and NHB. In furtherance of the said conspiracy, Sham Singh submitted false proposals for launching various projects for cultivation of strawberry, Gladiolus under the scheme “Development of Commercial Horticulture through Production and Post Harvest Management”. Under this scheme, the promoter had to be given subsidy of 20% of the total cost of the project after project was launched. According to the FIR, Sham Singh, in conspiracy with JB Singh Assistant Director NHB and unknown officers of SBI preferred repeated claims for strawberry, Gladiolus and leechi on the same place for land shown to have been utilized for the first claim and thereby claimed false subsidy to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs from time to time. According to the CBI preliminary enquiry the ground situation shows that these projects were not launched and no bore well/ tube well/ sheds/pump house were either constructed except in one instance. The above said facts disclosed the commission of offences u/s 120-B, 420, 468, 471 RPC and section 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act 2006. JNF
