Jammu police seizes poppy straw, nabs notorious interstate drug peddler | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 9: In a breakthrough against the menace of drug trafficking, Jammu Police achieved a major success by apprehending a notorious interstate drug peddler and seizing a large quantity of contraband. The operation was carried out by a team of Police Post Panjtirthi, led by I/C PP Panjtirthi PSI Anil Manhas, along with SgCt Mohd Kabir and SPO Balram Singh, under the supervision of SHO Pacca Danga, Inspector Rakesh Mani. During a routine surveillance operation near Atal Chowk, Panjtirthi, the alert police team intercepted a pedestrian carrying a nylon sack, approaching from the Sidhra side. On noticing the police presence, the suspect tried to flee the spot, but was swiftly overpowered and taken into custody. A thorough search of the sack led to the recovery of 7.90 kilograms of poppy straw. The accused has been identified as *Dazzy Singh, son of Shinda Singh, resident of Batala, Punjab. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was involved in inter-state smuggling of narcotics. In this regard, a case under FIR No. 94/2025 has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
