KVK Reasi hosts training programme on natural farming | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Aug 11: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Department of Agriculture, Reasi organised one day training programme on natural farming under “National Mission on Natural Farming” scheme here today at KVK Reasi campus which was enthusiastically attended by a number of farmers of the area. The major objective of the programme was to train the farmers on natural farming and guide them on the various practices required for natural farming. The programme was organized under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N. Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Chief Scientist and Head of KVK Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal deliberated on the importance of natural farming in present era. He discussed on the food and nutritional security. He stressed on the need to shift conventional farming to natural farming so as to safeguard biodiversity and environment. He ekaborated four pillars of natural farming and guided farmers on the formulations of Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, Agniastra, Neemastra, Brahmastra etc. with their uses. He emphasised on the cluster based approach required for natural farming.Dr.Arvinder Kumar narrated that by the use of natural farming formulations farmers can minimize the cost of cultivation and increase the quality of their farm produce. He expressed that natural farming is beneficial for the maintenance soil health, human health and biodiversity. |
