Vande Bharat train a bridge between two sacred cities: Balbir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 11: Jammu and Kashmir BJP senior leader and former Vice Chairman, Balbir Ram Rattan, said that in order to boost regional connectivity and spiritual tourism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has virtually flagged off the Vande Bharat Express between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Amritsar. The high-speed train is set to provide seamless travel between two of India’s holiest cities, providing a direct mean to travel to devotees and other travellers. Balbir Ram Rattan hailed the launch as a “bridge between two sacred cities,” highlighting the deep spiritual, cultural, and economic impact of the new route. This is not just a train service—it’s a direct connection to faith. It will strengthen spiritual bonds and bring economic growth to the region, he said. He mentioned that the Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, with key stops at Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Cantt, and Jalandhar City. These halts aim to improve accessibility for a broader population and ensure faster, more reliable travel across northern India. Balbir said that the train is expected to significantly enhance pilgrimage tourism, connecting devotees to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra and the Golden Temple in Amritsar with greater ease and comfort. With reduced travel time and top-tier facilities, both destinations are likely to see an increase in number of religious pilgrims. Balbir pointed out that the route would benefit local economies as well. Hotels, restaurants, transport operators, and small businesses are expected to see increased activity due to the rise in tourist flow. Moreover, the service will facilitate cultural exchange and smoother travel for families visiting ancestral homes or attending regional festivals. He further said that the train equipped with world-class amenities, comfortable seating, and advanced safety features, reflects the government’s vision for modern, efficient public transport. |
