5/4/2009 11:32:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 4- In a much publicized kidnapping case of Dr. Rubiya Syed and killing of five air-force personnel, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today started its arguments on framing charges against the accused persons who are facing investigation and trial for the last 20 years.
The Presiding Officer TADA Court exempted JKLF Supremo Mohammed Yaseen Malik and Javid Ahmed Mir alias Nalka from their personal presence as per the prayer of the counsels for the petitioners that they are house arrest and unable to attend the Court.
Dr. Rubiya Syed daughter of then Home Minister Mohammed Sayeed, while working as internship in Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar in the first week of December 1989 was forcibly kidnapped while she was coming from the hospital along with Dr. Nargis. The kidnappers demanded release of five hardcore militants of JKLF for the release of Dr. Rubiya Sayeed. The then Government at the Centre with the consent of Jammu and Kashmir Government had released five hardcore militants for releasing Dr. Rubiya from the clutches of the kidnappers.
In another case in the month of January 1990 the alleged accused killed five air-force personnel while they were waiting for their Air-Force bus at Batmaloo, Srinagar. The case was transferred to country’s prime investigating Agency CBI, which after completion of the investigations presented challan in the Court of law.
It is worthwhile to mention here that for the last 20 years case was pending in the Court at the stage of framing charge. JNF
