Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 12: Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu, as one of the lead colleges for the 79th Independence Day celebrations, organised a Divisional Level Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Role of Education in Promoting Peace". Ten students from various districts of Jammu division participated in the competition and presented thought-provoking perspectives on the transformative power of education in fostering peace, harmony, and understanding in society. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta and Dr. Revika Arora, Convener, Viksit Bharat Committee. In his welcome address, the Principal lauded the participants for their insightful essays and highlighted the indispensable role of education in building inclusive and peaceful communities. The jury comprised eminent academicians - Prof. Ruth K. Masehi, Associate Professor, Govt. MAM College; Dr. Jyoti Dutt, Assistant Professor, GCW Gandhi Nagar; and Dr. Bindu Chib, Head, Department of Hindi, GCW Gandhi Nagar. The first position was secured by Mr. Mohd Irshad of GDC Chennai followed by Ms Asima Bhukhari of SKC GDC Poonch in second place and Sufia Latief of GDC Banihal in third place. The competition was successfully organised by the members of the committee including Prof. Akanksha Parihar, Dr. Neha Sharma, Prof. Poonam Kundan, Dr. Nisha, Prof. Reetika Rani, and Dr. Arti Heer.
