GDC Neeli Nallah celebrates International Youth Day

JAMMU, Aug 12: Under the esteemed guidance of Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Red Ribbon Club GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur celebrated International Youth Day & launched an intensified IEC Campaign for HIV/AIDS Awareness in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society. The event comprises a poster making competition, debate competition and a rally that was flagged off from the college premises. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Convenor Red Ribbon Club which aimed to highlight the pivotal role of youth in shaping a progressive society and to spread awareness on key social issues.
In poster making competition and debate competition about 20 students participated. Through their impactful speeches and posters, they conveyed a powerful message about community leadership in combating fatal disease. Nilakshi of Sem 5th, Samiksha of Sem 3rd and Sunaina of Sem 3rd secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in poster making competition. Palak of Sem 3rd, Anamika Devi of Sem 5th and Suhani of Sem 5th secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in debate competition. The participants were felicitated with Certificate of Participation. Following this a rally was flagged off by the Principal from the college premises. The students carrying banners went through the nearby village spreading vital information about HIV prevention, testing and stigma reduction.
Speaking on the occasion the Principal encouraged the students to channel their energy towards constructive goals and to become ambassadors of positive change in the community. She also deliberated on the causes and consequences of AIDS and made aware the students, as to how can everyone play an active role in propagation of AIDS awareness among the common masses of the nation and entire world.
In addition to this, the college also paid a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes by unveiling a "Wall of Unsung Heroes" that featured portraits and life stories of freedom fighters whose sacrifices and contributions have shaped the nation's journey. Students curated the display bringing forward narratives of courage, resilience and selfless service under the convenorship of Prof. Rekha Sharma, NCORD Convenor and Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, NSS Programme Officer.
