MANDI GOBINDGARH, Aug 12: The School of Nursing at Desh Bhagat University celebrated the vibrant festival of Haryali Teej with great enthusiasm and cultural splendour, bringing together students, faculty, and staff to honour Punjab's rich traditions and festive spirit.
The seminar hall was beautifully decorated with green buntings, floral arrangements, and traditional motifs, reflecting the essence of Haryali Teej-a celebration of nature, the monsoon season, and devotion. Women dressed in colourful ethnic attire added to the festive atmosphere, embodying the joy and vibrancy of the occasion.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by enthralling folk dance performances, including Giddha and Bhangra. A variety of engaging activities such as a mehndi competition, traditional singing, and a best-dressed contest were organized, further enriching the cultural experience.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, graced the event as Chief Guests. They appreciated the efforts of the participants and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting cultural values alongside academic excellence.
The celebration was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Prabhjot Singh, Deputy Director; Dr. Lovesampuranjot Kaur, Principal; and Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, Vice Principal. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Tajinder Kaur commended the organizing team and students for hosting a memorable event that beautifully showcased the cultural heritage of Punjab.
