KATHUA, Aug 12: Residents of Khokhayal village in Kathua district are facing severe hardships as continuous rainfall has triggered flood-like conditions, inundating homes, submerging shops, and bringing daily life to a standstill.
Rainwater has entered residential houses and commercial establishments, leaving families unable to perform basic chores or sustain their livelihoods. The lack of a proper drainage or water diversion system has further aggravated the crisis, raising serious concerns over sanitation and public health. Frustrated by the worsening situation, villagers have accused the district administration and elected representatives of failing to take preventive measures or extend adequate support. Despite repeated appeals for help, locals claim that official response has been minimal, forcing them to fend for themselves.
