| Action against JE, VLW for cost excalation | | | Early Times report
Rajouri, May 05- Taking serious note of escalating the cost of a building in exorbitant manner, the Director, Rural Development, Jammu, J L Bhagat, during his extensive tour to far-flung areas of block Sunderbani, Nowshera, Darhal and Thannamandi of Rajouri district today directed ACD Rajouri to place Narinder Kumar Sharma VLW under suspension immediately and also take up with the CE PWD, Jammu for initiating disciplinary action against Ashwani Kumar Sharma, the then Junior Engineer.
He also inspected various developmental works being executed in these blocks especially under NREGA and Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Program.
During the course of tour, he also inspected model village Balshama of block Sunderbani and Rajal of block Nowshera and inspected SGSY, IAY units etc.
Bhagat also convened a meeting of the officers to review the physical and financial achievements under various sector in the district for the year ending March, 2009 and asked field functionaries to be responsive and strictly observe financial discipline and transparency while executing the works under various schemes. He also asked them to ensure regular monitoring and use of skilled manpower to achieve the desired goals. He asked field functionaries to execute maximum works under NREGA involving organized efforts to identify the activities to be taken up especially land labeling, plantation, and water conservation work. He also exhorted for creating durable assets and directed them to work with zeal and dedication for upliftment of the downtrodden people so that their socio-economic condition can be improved.
