JAMMU, Aug 21: Department of Linguistics & Literature, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu, with the support of Tarak Sewa Sanstha, Varanasi and Bayaar Foundation Lucknow organized Two - Day International Seminar on "Text, Tongue and Technology: the Changing Face of Humanities" from 21st August 2025 to 22nd August 2025 under the patronage of Sr. Professor K.S. Chandrasekar, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu. Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India was the chief guest on the august event. The event commenced with Prof. Monika Sharma, Dean Humanities & Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu, formally welcoming the distinguished Chief Guest and the delegates from abroad and different parts of India. She highlighted the relevance of technology integrated studies and also that how Humanities, as a subject, has augmented its scope with the aid of technology. She highlighted the relevance of the topic of the Seminar in reference to the National Education Policy 2020. The concept note was delivered by Dr. Reena Salaria, Hod Linguistics, who reflected the importance of the text, tongue and technology in today's time, and also about how in the digital era, the role of technology has become that of a preserver of both tongue and text, how in order to continue the historical relevance, it is important to move with the pace of contemporary changes. She also talked about transition and evolution of language skills. The keynote address was delivered by Senior Professor Abhilasha Singh, Department of English and Foreign Languages, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak. She spoke about the digitalization in the subjects of Linguistics and Literature followed by relationship between modern and ancient languages. Her focus was on 'To Digitalize Without Discreeting'. She also spoke about tribal languages and the importance of Semantics as a subject. She also discussed about speech and how cultural memory acts as a balance in linguistic ecosystem.
